Caffe Romeo![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Brilliant Coffee If you are after coffee this is the place to get it. I'm fussy with what I like and this place is one of the best that I've had in Melbourne. What makes it even better is that they roast their own beans! |

Cicalata![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Guest I stumbled across this trendy cafe one day after uni. The coffee is the best on Lygon St. The cakes are made on the premises and you can't go past the choc.brownie. It's even gluten free - and tastes great. 10/10 for me. I'm now a regular ! |

We decided to have lunch at your resterant last Monday and upon receiving our meals was very nervous about finding quite a large number of Brussel Sprouts alongside my Roast beef, my thoughts however completely changed when I had my first sprout, previously I could'nt stand the taste of sprouts but you have managed to change me forever! Keep up the good work and thankyou for your helpful tip on how you cook sprouts. Regards Lisa. |

Tiamo![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() One time fav goes down hill A couple of years ago after moving to the Carlton area, Tiamo was one of my favourite places to visit for a casual dinner or a drink before a movie and also a place to take friends and family visiting from out of town. The food was always reliable, tasty and of good value. Those were the good old days... More recently, maybe due to a change in waiting staff, we'd be lucky to even get offered a table after waiting outside, on a winters night for 20 minutes and seeing at least two tables vacate and stay vacant. In another instance, when we did finally get a table, we were left unattended for 50 minutes (!!!) without even a drinks order taken, or bottle of water to keep us from dehydrating on a hot, humid Melbourne evening. After several attempts to get the waiters attention to no avail, we decided enough was enough, we were going to go elsewhere and on the way out, one of our party decided to let the hipster waiter know how disappointed and hungry we were; to which he replied, "Awesome! I can give the table to these people", turned on his heels and walked off. Tiamo used to be a favourite, but the waiting staff really need some lessons in customer service, even just the basics of acknowledging their clientele on arrival. I miss their food but I'm not willing to be stung a third time by rude, unfriendly, pretentious staff. |

The BondStore Cafe![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Gem of a cafe Under the shadow of Eureka Tower, but not to be overlooked, this vibrant and very community based cafe never disappoints. Frequented by suits and locals all day, the atmosphere is generally hip with selected tunes playing in the background. The space is within a refurbish warehouse (bond store) and is provided with comfortable table seating inside and out, plus a bar area for those on their own. The lineup for takeaway coffee in the mornings is a sure sign that they get the stuff right. The staff here are permanent and excellent, with good attitudes and they're never shy for a chat if time allows. Food varies from fresh pastries to formal cooked breakfasts with a twist. The broken eggs with truffle oil and shaved parmesan being my favourite, although a little over indulgent to have more than once a week. The lunch menu kicks on until 3pm and changes regularly. Expect a 'soup of the day', a selection of toasted panini, plus a small selection of formal meals like a parpadelle pasta served with a fine pick of fresh seafood plus lime dressing, or a green pea risotto with persian fetta and parsley. And if the lunch drags on, help yourself to a glass of wine...there's about 6 by the glass to choose from. Summary: If you're on the south side of the Yarra, take a short walk away from the river and discover the gem that is The Bond Store. |

El Mirage![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ruined by a rude waitress El mirage employs a particularly rude and curt waitress who gave us a lot of attitude when things were busy... We could hear her ****ing about us behind our backs. You go out for breakfast to relax and to start your weekend in an enjoyable way, and this just leaves you feeling ****ed off. this is a shame because the other waitstaff/manager are all unfailingly polite and friendly. Competition around East Brunswick is fierce, going somewhere else instead is all too easy. |
